Our Story So Far...

inpurpose was founded in 2024 by Jill McAlpine to help ambitious founders and teams run their businesses with the right systems, structure, and rhythm in place.

What started as a hands-on business operations consultancy in the Highlands has grown into a team that supports clients across the UK - combining AI-powered process improvement, fractional operations leadership, and team development to create workplaces that thrive.

In 2025, we were proud to be named Professional Services Start-Up of the Year for Scotland, in recognition of our people-first, practical approach to business improvement.

Then, Iris Thompson-Burton joined as Operations Director, bringing her expertise in planning, funding, and organisational development, followed by Cairan Macleod as Operations + Delivery Associate, strengthening our ability to deliver complex projects and client operations.

We work with businesses across the UK, at every stage - whether they’re building, growing, or optimising.

In September 2025, inpurpose became an accredited Living Wage Employer, reflecting our ongoing commitment to creating better workplaces for everyone.

Founder

Jill is the founder of inpurpose and the creator of Working With Me®, a people-first AI platform that helps teams and businesses achieve high performace.

With more than 20 years’ experience leading teams and driving change across business, politics, and corporate improvement, Jill has worked with organisations of every size, from growing SMEs to public-sector leadership teams.

Before founding inpurpose, she was Chief of Staff to an MP, leading on strategy, campaigns, and operations, following several years managing transformation projects at Highland Council, with her early career in managing large-scale hospitality operations.

Her work now focuses on strategy, systems, and organisational development, helping founder-led businesses and growing teams fix what’s not working, build what will, and create the structure and rhythm they need to perform.

With experience spanning events, marketing, and business support, she’s worked with organisations from the Scottish Government to local authorities and creative agencies.
